Governmental Affairs

Dan Mitchell is a long standing member of the National Home Builders Association. Dan attends the yearly International Builders Show where the latest and most innovative products are displayed. Dan continues to work with local and county building officials relating to new codes and compliances. He also works with local youth groups and vocational training facilities regarding job placement within the construction industry. He attends Log and Timber Home Shows throughout the country teaching builders and consumers about the log and timber industry. Mr. Mitchell is passionate about his work, and remains dedicated and committed to the industry. He truly stands by his company’s motto “Quality without Compromise.”

2019 HBAGK President. On HBAGK Board of Directors since 2015.  Licensed attorney since 2004. Employed by FairFax Development (est. 1990) since 2014.

Alan A. VanWhy Jr.

President/Founder, originally studied architecture in high school in Pennsylvania. Alan pursued his dreams by attending the number 3 architecture school in the country. Alan graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, School of Architecture in 2000.

Alan fell in love with residential architecture and construction. He excels at interacting with clients throughout the design & construction process to achieve quality results on a budget. Alan is a State of Tennessee Licensed General Contractor since 2004. NKCS Inc. was formed in 2004 to provide clients with a stress free design and construction experience they will not find with other contractors.

John coordinates all aspects of how Cook Bros. Homes functions. He facilitates a culture of continuous improvement and growth, while developing referral partner relationships that benefit both our clients and the company. . His insight into the building process allows him to identify potential problems before they are developed, and to see a 360-degree view of a new home. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife Ashley and daughter Olivia, lifting weights, and riding his Harley Davidson. He enjoys boating, and football - especially UT (Go Vols!) and the Chicago Bears (da' Bears!).

Patrick is the principal broker and owner of Heritage Realty, a local firm focused on brokerage and property management in the Greater Knoxville Area. A graduate of The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Patrick started in real estate in 2000 acquiring sites for cell tower companies throughout Tennessee. In 2002, he moved over to real estate sales where he worked for several local franchises before founding Heritage Realty in 2015. Patrick also serves on the Parade of Homes Committee (2022-2023), HBAGK Board of Directors (2022-2023) and HBAT Associate Director (2023).
